Nova-Tech Engineering offers FSW systems ranging from tank welders, horizontal and vertical configurations, milling machine retrofits, and custom tooling for the aerospace, defense and research industries. NTE is a leader in utilizing engineering and manufacturing expertise to develop world class FSW machinery.  Mechanical features include retractable pin technology, independent pin rotation, powered tilt axis and stiff structures to withstand the forces generated in the FSW process.

Gantry Systems Section

This machine is intended for production welding on large panels that require a butt weld to form larger panels.

G10K Large Plate Gantry FSW

This machine is intended for production welding on large panels that require a butt weld to form larger panels. It is a single axis welder with a vertical welding head mounted to a traveling gantry. This machine can be supplied with a fixed bed, or the customer may utilize an existing bed. Optional configurations can include a fixed gantry with a moving bed. The base machine comes standard with twenty feet of welding travel, five inches of Y-axis travel for the purpose of seam alignment and tracking, and a fixed bed. Increased welding stroke and Y-Axis travel can be accommodated for additional cost. A Retractable Pin mechanism can be added to the FSW head to enable independent motion of the pin relative to the tool shoulder.

 

H10K Large Horizontal FSW

The H10K is intended for production welding on either flat plates or circumferential welds on cylindrical objects. It is a stand alone unit with the FSW head mounted in a horizontal configuration. The welding head is designed to plunge into material that is affixed to an external device such as a knee brace typically used on milling machines, or custom fixturing for welding on cylindrical components. The travel axis is independent of the FSW machine, thereby allowing infinite flexibility for welding various sizes of plate or other geometric shapes. The height of the spindle from the ground can be specified at time of order. A Retractable Pin mechanism can be added to the FSW head to enable independent motion of the pin relative to the tool shoulder.

V30K Five Axis Vertical FSW

The V30K is NTE’s advanced research machine with the capability of welding 3D profiles. The machine comes standard with three orthogonal axis and two powered tilt axis. The welding head is in mounted in a vertical orientation, and consists of a plunge axis, (2) tilt axis, and an optional Retractable Pin Mechanism. The welding table provides two axis of motion in the X & Y directions.

V15K One Axis Vertical FSW

The V15K is NTE’s low cost introductory machine designed for laboratory research. It is configured with the welding head in the vertical orientation and a table with one axis of motion. The machine comes standard with 24 inches of welding travel, and a welding head that can be manually tilted at 3 degrees with respect to the work table. A Retractable Pin mechanism can be added to the FSW head to enable independent motion of the pin relative to the tool shoulder.

C10K Tank Seam C-Frame FSW

The C10K is a single axis welder that can accommodate flat plates or cylindrical objects that need to have longitudal welds performed. Tooling can be supplied for welding cylindrical objects from 5 feet in diameter an up. This machine comes standard with a 48 inch welding axis (X), and a 3 inch Y-axis for seam alignment. Welding strokes can be increased for an additional cost. A Retractable Pin mechanism can be added to the FSW head to enable independent motion of the pin relative to the tool shoulder.
